Once you have decided to explore the possibility of therapy and made contact I offer a free, short initial telephone conversation. After this if you decide you would like to arrange a meeting an initial assessment appointment will be booked. This time spent together will enable you to meet me, ask any questions and make the decision whether I am someone you would feel comfortable working with. It will also give me the opportunity to explore with you what brings you to therapy, what your goals and hopes are, and to take a brief personal history so that together we can see if counselling or psychotherapy may be of benefit to you.
Where are you based?
I am based near the peaceful, historic market town of Spilsby (PE23). Located within easy reach of Horncastle, Skegness, Boston and Louth.
How much does it cost?
All sessions including the initial assessment session are £40 for individuals, £50 for couples. This can be paid via cash on the day of the appointment, I also accept bank transfers for ongoing appointment (not the initial) if paid in advance. I do offer concessions for students and have a limited number of low cost spaces available.
What can I expect?
I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I aim to meet you with respect and empathy and value your individuality and way of being in the world. Sessions are weekly, sometimes more often if required, and take place on a one to one basis in a private setting.
Where will the counselling/psychotherapy take place, what is it like?
The room where counselling/psychotherapy takes places is both comfortable and private. There is no available waiting area so I do ask you arrive on time for your appointments. Free parking is available.
Continuation of Work Together
If we decide to continue to work together we will then agree a contract of working which will outline confidentiality, time and day of sessions, data protection, complaints etc.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists) and SPTI (Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute) and fully adhere to their ethical codes of conduct. All of my client work is supervised by a UKCP registered supervisor who supports me in my professional and ethical practice.
How long do sessions last and how many will I need?
Sessions last for an hour. The number will be unique to each individual dependant on the complexity of the problem and the solutions you seek.
What if I can't attend a session?
Regularity and continuity are important in our work together, as they give structure and a feeling of reliability to the process. We will agree on a day and time that suits you and this will be then set aside for you. I require at least 24 hours notice of cancellation, if not given the full fee will be payable.
Taking it forward
I look forward to hearing from you. When you call you may get my answerphone, please be assured no one else has access to my phone or the messages that are left on it. I will call you back as soon as possible, to protect your confidentiality I will only leave a message (if I cannot reach you) just to say my name and that I have rang. If this is not appropriate for you please just let me know.
